Got backbox HD install on a Compaq Presario CQ62.  Ran updates.  Everything if fine except for the wifi switch (F12) not getting enabled during system start up and that's my guess as to why there is no wifi.

When i plug my Alfa in, wifi networks show up in network manager things are fine, whether the F12 light is white or orange for off, that's my guess that the wifi switch is getting "stuck to off" for the Realtek RTL8191 seva.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Itdan,

Some hardwer will not work in same way with Linux. I looked around to find solutions. This topic can help you :

But, best to do is to use Alfa adapter for wireless on your lap top. RTL8191SE wireless card does not support aircrack-ng's injection mode.

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*
