Hello backboxers

I wanted to try out your pentesting OS by making a persistent usb because it sounded promising and heard it had good support. So I downloaded de AMD64 version of backbox. Used unetbootin to put it on FAT32 usb stick of 8GB. Set the space for user files to 3gb, it stopped reacting at 72% but eventually it started working again and completed the install on the USB. Then I booted from the usb it came up on the start screen. I select try out OS and it just gave a black screen (NO letters), then I tried out test live cd for errors (or something like that). And it also gave a black screen..

BTW I work with a
I7-4702MQ
and a
GeForce gt 750M

I hope that made some sense  :P

Thanks in advance

BTW it works perfect in a virtualbox!

Hi perception,
maybe you can do some tests. Here is something you can try, but you can try other different ways:

  • Check MD5 of the downloaded iso and compare it with the one in the download page. If they differ please download again.
  • Retry the usb creation with unetbootin
  • Try to create a bootable usb in non-persistent mode.
  • Try to modify boot parameters editing the line in the bootloader to start in single-user mode.
  • Try with the 32 bit version.

Also, in virtualbox you are directly booting the iso emulating a CD/DVD, not the bootable usb, aren't you?

Let us know.
Good luck!

weVeg are you on an aspire V3 772G? Anyway I'm gonna try the 32bit version even though I find it weird that the 64bit wouldn't work on this laptop :s

Hi! No I don't, but it's very similar, i7 too and nvidia gt.... So, we talked about intel  and his 64bit version last year (search on forum), bbox work greatly with intel 32b version, if you scared about 4 gb ram, kernel pae is the answer!
