Hi, I want to ask if you know some problems to use anonymous mode and tor  with thunderbird mail client, cos i try to use anonymous mode( after tor start) ) mail client isn't able to download mail or upload from gmail.

Thank's

Ps

I think in any case that Vidalia and tor service is the same thing, isn't it?

mad_dev

Hi,

Vidalia is a GUI for TOR.

I don't have or use TB, but try launching TB with proxychains.

Don't forget to edit proxychains config file so that it points to TOR(port).

Hi!
I use TB and I'm able to download and send mail with anonimous mode....
If you try to use any google service  through tor, G ask you to confirm that you are a real human, may be this is the problem!
Try to use another service provider for your mail (riseup or A/I for example)
Bye!

Yes, I think it is the problem, If I want to use tor and TB together , i have to login in gmail webpage, then it works.

Sorry, but I am a bit confused about use of Tor/Vidalia, I also try to use firefox with proxy according with the guide of Vidalia, but it dosen't run ... and so I try to understand if I am a bit stupid or there is something else...

Grazie

ok, let's make a bit clear here.... Vidalia is gui (as mad_dev told you) for configure tor... If you use anonimous mode by the menu, you don't need to use vidalia and also you don't need to configure ff to use a proxy!
If you want to use vidalia, here yes you need to configure ff to use a proxy...
