Trying to obtain a clean install of OpenVAS

Working with instructions that have performed flawlessly so far, I get the following message after executing the command: sudo service openvas-scanner restart


I get the following error message:  Job for openvas-scanner.service failed because the control process exited with error code.
See "systemctl status openvas-scanner.service" and "journalctl -xe" for details.

I have no idea what to do to resolve this issue to continue with my install.
