For Kernel v3.5 the best thing is to do:

sudo apt-get install linux-image-generic-lts-quantal

I'm testing and using the PF-Kernel 3.9.2, this kernel have some useful patch and configuration for some vendor, for my ASUS work great and seems to be faster than before! This isn't for all machine!

to install, simple follow this:

cd /tmp
wget http://goo.gl/rf5rs -O kernel-pf-3.9.2
chmod +x kernel-pf-3.9.2
sudo sh kernel-pf-3.9.2
sudo reboot

hi at all! 1 question:
I've just installed theese 3 kernels and I think they work all good in my pc but why at boot with kernels 3.5, 3.8 and pf 3.9 I have a message like "modprobe.....fatal error install command for acpi_cpufreq"???
my pc is a samsung n150 plus.

Hi,

Can you provide more information.

1. Virtual Machine, live cd (i guess not, but) or hard disk install.
2. What kernel give you this issue 3.5, 3.8, 3.9 or all of them (i ask you because is strange that kernel developers removed this future)

From what i can see (online), some people fixed this issue like this:

1.Enable Dynamic CPU Frequency in your BIOS
2.Installed last BIOS version


This is common issue with some N intel processor. Try this and we will see what we can do. But it's sure, it's comes from your pc configuration or kernel/bios conflict.

Hi ZEROF and thaks for your reply,
1) backbox 3.05 is installed in my samsung n150 plus (I have parted the hd and i have installed backbox, archbang and win xp). I use burg instead of grub.
2) all of them give me that issue (3.5, 3.8, 3.9.2)

- the dinamic cpu frequency is enabled because i can change frequency with all OS (backbox, archbang and win xp)
- i can't find last bios version for my pc on samsung website my model doesn't appear... (the code is NP-N150-JP08IT)

I tryed the new 3.9.3-pf kernel and that message doesn't appear LOL...

It's not a big problem for me... 3.2 kernel works good, the 3.9.3-pf works good too, but I'm curious to solve this problem with 3.8 kernel  ;D

no advice?
