Hello!
I bought a new laptop Lenovo u430p (Haswell based, nvidia optimus) and installed my favourite Backbox Linux on it (release 3.09).
The first problem that I get is no wireless.

I have found some info on the Internet about solving the driver problems of this wireless controller and Ubuntu 12.04, but I have no success.
So could anyone help me to solve the problem?

Can you past lsmod and dmesg please? There is a 3d made by ZEROF that explain what do you have to do and how to post question about wireless issue, try to search in the forum!

[edit] googling seems that you need to add the firmware intel 7260, did you do?

Do you have a wireless interface now?

Does it connect? Are there any informative messages here?

as weVeg said you need the right driver for you wireless adapter.
Since dmesg is too long, you should use a pastebin website and give us the link, or directly from command line (if you dont need to edit sensible data):

Also, are you sure you followed that guide? I can spot no iwlwifi module loaded in your lsmod output. Did you try loading it manually?

Hi,

From what i can see driver need to be enable in kernel. Drivers and information can be found here:

http://wireless.kernel.org/en/users/Drivers/iwlwifi

And you installed drivers but they are not supported in your kernel (found online in same tutorial like you i guess):

I suggest you download this to your desktop: http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/projects/backports/stable/v3.11-rc3/backports-3.11-rc3-1.tar.bz2 Right-click it and select 'Extract Here.' Now open a terminal and do:

cd Desktop/backports-3.11-rc3-1/
make defconfig-iwlwifi
make
sudo make install

Then install driver like you said before.

Backbox has the best support and community, that's why I like it more than Kali and Bugtraq Blackwidow!
