I installed Backbox as my main OS today becouse Ubuntu got uninstalled when i ran backbox from USB.
Now im trying to decide if i should keep Backbox as my main OS or change back to Ubuntu.

I have a question. When i wanted to get started with XChat and clicked the icon a window popped up that said:

Untrusted application launcher

The desktop file "xchat.desktop" is in an insecure location and not marked as executable. If you do not trust this program, click Cancel.

Exec=sh -c "xchat --existing --url %U || exec xchat"

I can: "launch it anyway", "Mark executable", and "Cancel"

It is like this for every program when i try to start them. I can click "Launch anyway" and run them, but i guess that something is wrong and it figure that it would be best to fix this right away.

What can this be?

Ps. I just wanted to ask if in your opinion Backbox be used for everyday use, like downloading torrents for example?

Hi!
Try to change the owner with

sudo chown Yourname xchat.desktop

may be setting +x with chmod could be enough... try the first!

Try it! =)
But in my opinion, you should install something like debian and then install the tools you need separately
