Just a quick question.

What does this last line mean? :

Module build for the currently running Kernal was skipped since the kernal source for this Kernal does not seem to be installed.Setting up nvidia-current (304.88-oubuntu0.0.3) ...
user@user-system-Product-Name:~$

Does this it was not installed?  :-\

Ok, started all over for the 5th time. No video card installed. Just onboard video. Installed and now black screen. Monitor does not turn on. Only way I can get in is if I put back my video card so it will at least bring up the login screen. I do not want to slap in my card. I want to know how do you get into safe mode? At least if I can get in I will be able to do something. And from what I read from the post above. Well need to be able to login to do something. That is my problem. What can I do? I have had problems before with other Linux. Example Kubuntu. And I was able to get it. This seems a lot more complicated..well if I could get in and try to fix it. Like being outside of a locked car and try to fix it cause it won't start. If anybody has something please let me know. I have been googling and nothing helps can not find anything. Been a week now.  :(

Thanks!

Will I uninstalled it and reinstalled Kubuntu. It too had problems with the video, but after 3 resets it let me in and I installed Nvidia binary Xorg driver, kernal moduel and VDPAU library. And it works like a charm. Thanks to those who took the time to respond. I have a Windows machine with VM installed and I installed it on VM and it works perfect. So I will use it that way for now and play around with it. Again thank you to those who responded to my post. I appreciated the the effort to help me.  :)

Hi, but if you get the login screen and a terminal can't you install the desired packages from there with apt-get?
Maybe it's a bit tricky but you should do it...

Bye!

I would but the screen Or monitor does not light up. When I installed it screen would work. After it finished installing and I rebooted it. The monitor would not come on at all. So I could not see anything. Hard to fix it if you can not see anything.
