Kramer

Hello, after I started TOR from the "Anonymous" menu in Backbox, it told me to add some lines in /etc/default/tor and /etc/tor/torcc, after I added them; it said TOR wasn't running so i did "sudo service tor start" but after I started the anonymous mode menu again, TOR didn't work so I decided to switch to normal internet by stopping the anonymous mode and stopping the tor service. Even after I did this, my internet isn't working. I can't load pages...etc, please help me. How can I browse through normal internet again?

Here are my configs, before and after the start of anonymous mode:

/etc/hosts (before)
127.0.0.1   localhost
127.0.1.1   b0x

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

/etc/hosts (after)
127.0.0.1   localhost
127.0.1.1   b0x

# The following lines are desirable for IPv6 capable hosts
::1     ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::2 ip6-allrouters

/etc/resolv.conf:
nameserver 127.0.0.1

after tor daemon is stopped and the anonymous mode is stopped too:
ping -c1 google.com says:
ping: unknown host google.com

Hi kramer,
resolv.conf should not point to your localhost, try
nameserver 8.8.8.8

that is google dns, or point to your gateways, if you use dhcp and your nic is wlan0 try:
sudo dhclient wlan0

or eth0 if you have wired connection... remember to stop tor and polipo.
bye!
