Sorry to bother but I would like to know how to change proxy settings.I know backbox is ubuntu based debian distro so i used:

cmd$ export http_proxy='http://@172.20.16.111:3128"

the same for ftp,https etc.
still in the ubuntu software centre i can't download any software but it works in my browser settings.

Anyway how do you put the proxy settings?...................Thanks in advance

your question should be: how do I set up system wide proxy settings?

While you are not looking for the proxy set on your browser side, it is obvious question.

Typing the question on google:

Note: it seems like you are using ubuntu from your last comment, are you using BB?

yeah! i am using BB. I need BB to work with my school proxy so I would really appreciate some advice to how I could connect to it
