you can try using bumblebee but its a lot of hassle some people have had luck with it most have not
but its a good project and well needed due to dman nvidia and intel trying to grab as much market share as possible

they call it optimus due to method of nvidia card kicking in when its needed but its sucks balls for linux THANKS NVIDIA YOU f**king wan****

luke if its just to get your resolution right

you could use the latest intel ppa and xorgs ppa

I doubt that want to use a 540m for cuda

the above logs are pretty clear and it is obvious you Luke messed up your system.
Pls install linux kernel source and kernel-devel as suggested by log output itself.
if the problem still persist, why don't you re-install BB as we have no clue about what you've done on system, so we could save time here to everyone.

LOGS are only a guide to problem solving just because it says something doesn't mean that will fix the problem... logs will post out a message telling it needs x but x is not required to solve the solution while y need's to be compatible in this case optimus drivers

example :::  conflicting error when trying to install a program telling you that you need x but actual to install x you need y with was never
permitted so x cannot be installed unless you have y


all this is irrelevant to you as to know when the logs are spitting out the correct info and when they are a mere text service
is the difference between knowing and wanting to know

who are you anyway ?? and whats with the charge in blind approach ?

that moderator label of your's is just a glorified badge without the knowledge

It is you that haven't read at all the thread, where the user clearly says that the driver were installed and working correctly before, started to have problem after playing around compiz.

So it is you who have to go back to thread and read carefully.

I had properly installed nvidia drivers on first BackBox. I wanted to make screen looks better, so i installed compiz. After 1 day i removed compiz, because i didnt like it. After uninstalling compiz, i got some problems with windows theme (i didnt see X for close, _ for minimize,...). So i needed to reinstalll BB. After i formated hdd and installed BB with the same way like before. My resolution was loser, than i could have. Then i tried to install nvidia drivers with the same way like before but the errors popup [showed...(i dont know, how to say it right)]. When i reinstalled BB again, the same errors pop up. Nothing works. I need the nvidia drivers for shutting down nvidia's fan and for changing the resolution. I didnt know, what did you say above, but you were right  :D
So can you help me please ?

EDIT: I uninstalled and installed b*g*raq ( another linux distribution ) and installed nvidia. After i rebooted b*g*raq  ive got  black screen with nvidia error (nvidia didnt search settings or something like that)...so i installed BB again. And VOALA (its french word i think  ;D) BB is now with installed nvidia drivers. Linux is full of surprised   :D
EDIT2: hmmmm...i think i know what is the fix. When i was installing BB i checked the two boxes (upgrade and codecs i think) and nvidia works now.  ;)

By the way, the knowledgeable personality never get upset and never start to insulting people around. Being wise is not the matter of everyday but once you find out the way to do it you will stop behaving like that and stop following Confucius, but only your own idea, walking in your own path with your own legs.

That is how knowledge work around community, and that is how the knowledge being increased everyday. By simply sharing it and not throwing it like you are doing.

Dislike totally to talk about my self but, personally I am actively part of the community and doing my best in order to share the knowledge by respecting everyone, even the idiots, by following the Netiquette (when on network), offering my knowledge (if I have any) to the entire community and getting knowledge from the community itself, increasing my knowledge.
