Hi everyone,

I use ubuntu 12.04 and I downloaded the backbox ISO and burned it on a disk. When I insert the disk, I get the following error :                              hUNABLE to mount BackBox Linux 3.01 -i386.                                                                                                                                               EError mounting: mount: block device /dev/sr0 is write-protected, mounting is read only. Mount : /dev/sr0: can't read superblock.                                               Please help.

But, are you inserting the CD while running Ubuntu? BackBox is an OS, not an application... You have to install it on your HDD, not on the Ubuntu distro. Please, reboot your PC and install it as you have already done for Ubuntu.

Hi pseudots, I think you are a new linux user, if I can suggest you, you don't need to use bbox as default OS so install it in virtualbox and you resolve your problem!

google is your friend, and backbox wiki [1] also =) there are VMWare Player installation instruction but virtualbox is good choice.

@weVeg, I managed to run BBX on Virtualbox. Now I just want to know if there is a complete tutorial for using BackBox because the tools there are many.

backbox != tools
imho, you should learn how to linux works, may be using another distro, when you are ready (for job or for fun) you'll notice that in rare case you need to play with all the tool present on bbox... when you'll need to do something, you'll learn that!
you have to learn step by step!
for example, more than half of the tools present here doesn't have a gui so you need to learn cli, to learn cli you need to know at least linux about 5 years, step by step man...

btw we are just a little OT ;)
