Hi All iam new here, i have a UP board with a Intel Atom x5-Z8350 64 bit CPU up to 1.92GHz ,32GB eMMC, 2GB RAM.. hdmi 4 2.0usb 1 otg 3.0

Ubuntu and some other distro is working on it, as i read, and used Backbox on normal sys, its ubuntu based.  So i want to try ito make a eufi install usb and try, i dont see any problems.  but i need to flash a kernel for sound over hdmi and some other options like cause it have some raspberry gpio features

Does that maybe cause any problems if i flash the kernel? See topic 3 https://up-community.org/wiki/Ubuntu
Or could it be that Backbox works out of the box :D

Hope if i run in to problems someone can help :) tia

btw freaky fast boards for the credit card size

Hi,

That is good question, but that is Intel, may work out of box. Try and see what you get. And share with us if that board is good, i didn't know about it. Look nice to build home firewall with pfsense :)

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*

Done :) Linux 4.4.0-2-upboard #6~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Thu Dec 1 15:11:56 UTC 2016 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Converting the iso i had to try a vieuw time.. to a bootable minisd in a minisd to usb 3.0 :d so went quick, install like 40 minuts couse the usb from upboard is 2.0

As i thought i had the hdmi isseu  no sound, and bleutooth and wifi also didnt work..did the kernel swap as described on the Upboard wiki,

wifi bleutooth solved still no sound, and sounded logic.. new kernel.. new connection ? :)

then i found this on the web :)
1) no audio card was detected at all
=> cat /proc/asound/cards returned an empty content
=> cat /proc/asound/devices did not include any audio devices
=> 'Hardware' tab in sound preferences was empty
2) the audio tray indicated a "dummy output"

Solution

sudo apt-get remove --purge alsa-base
sudo apt-get remove --purge pulseaudio
sudo apt-get install alsa-base
sudo apt-get install pulseaudio
sudo alsa force-reload

Sudo reboot

booted
cat /proc/asound/cards
0 [IntelHDMI      ]: IntelHDMI - IntelHDMI

And so far everything Works Smoothly... reboots in like 10 to 15 sec on emmc... I

Imagine the 2.5ghz 128gbemmc 8ram 4 3.0usb :) would love to boot a multipleboot on it on ssd:)

Lets play :)
