Hi guys,

I recently installed Backbox 4.6 and after updating it through "Software Updater" my system seems to be broken. Title bar for any software that i run is missing, as you can see in the following screenshot for Opera browser. I tried other software too and its missing in them too.

Desktop icons are missing, right click on desktop doesnt do anything. Also i cannot type in the start menu, i can click icons and menu buttons but doesnt let me type in the run dialog box.

I tried booting up with the previos 4.2 kernel, but no luck. Please help.

Hi,

Did you check in "additional drivers" from settings, and see if you need to install some drivers to your system? Before you start opera open one terminal and type tail -f /var/log/syslog and check for errors, maybe you will get more info and you can share here. And did you try to run installation more then more time?

Try to run as well before system reinstall:

sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
sudo apt-get install -f
sudo apt-get install backbox-default-settings backbox-desktop backbox-menu backbox-tools --reinstall
sudo apt-get install beef-project metasploit-framework whatweb wpscan setoolkit --reinstall
sudo apt-get autoremove --purge

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*

Well thats the problem, when i start terminal i cannot type in it.

Hi,

When you boot and login, try to open tty with CTRL+ALT+F2, login. Then run that commands. Like this you will know if issue comes from graphical driver, wifi drivers etc...

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*

Azhar

Yes i have already done that. Still no luck.

Here is the output from syslog

Hi,

From this i can only see that you will need to set you AP to use only wpa and then try to connect your pc over wifi, or disable wifi and connect with cable and see what is going on. 2nd part is CUPS and apparmor, who from what i know right now is not adapted to live with AppArmor, yet.

Check here how to deal with AppArmor: https://www.cyberciti.biz/faq/ubuntu-linux-howto-disable-apparmor-commands/

Hope it helps.
