Hi, i am in the progress of installing Backbox in Virtualbox, and i would like to ask if someone know of a kind of start up tutorial for beginners?
I have tried google, but i haven´t found anything that´s what im looking for.

I got curious over Backbox when reading about it on Lifehacker, and decided to give it a try. I have tried installing it a few times, but without any success. But i hope it will work this time around.

So if you have read some info about Backbox when you where starting out, please give me a point in the right direction and i will be very greatful. :)

Ps. I am interested in joining your IRC channel. Would you recommend me Chatzilla, of some other application?

Hi Antimon!
You could start from our wiki [1], there is also a book written by ostendali last year ( I hope to don't make a mistake) .
Also read our disclaimer where there is written that bbox isn't for newbie users, and you have to know how to linux works and how to resolve by yourself problems at least simple.
About irc I can suggest you xchat for gui and irssi for cli! In my opinion they are the best software for chatting in irc!
see ya!

Thanks, i will check it out. :)

I haven´t gotten to trying it out yet, but now after this weekend, and everything is back to normal again, i will give it a swing. :)

Do i have to install the tools separately?

I want to also get into IRC. I fiddled aroud with it about 15 years ago, but i don´t seem to remember how it´s done. But i will get the hang of it. :)

Ps. I installed Backbox in Virtualbox once, but there are still an "Install Backbox" icon on the desktop.

Do i need to install it twice?

ZEROF

If you installed BBox once there is no more "Install BackBox" icon on your screen, you did forget something.

Don't ask, read : http://wiki.backbox.org
or just run sudo rm -rf /*

Got it. I have fixed it since the last time. :) In fact I installed Backbox as my main o's. That brings me to my question.
When I used Windows I used Xampp,  is there a alternative that's like Xampp?
Should I use LAMP?

Thanks for all the response.

Ps. I have Ostendalis book now, and it has been super helpful. Appreciate it.
